A few ideas relevant to theory that have been on my mind.

“It shouldn’t be theories that define the problems of our situation, but rather the problems that demand, and so to speak, select, their own theorisation.” (Martín-Baró (1998) in Burton & Kagan (2005)).

“What we see and how we see is of course determined by our perspective, by the place from which we begin our examination of history; but it is determined also by reality itself.” (Martín-Baró, 1994)

“The present reality in Latin America leads us to the hypothesis that philosophy can only carry out its critical and creative function in favor of an effective praxis of liberation if it is adequately situated within that liberating praxis, which is independent of philosophy.” (Ellacur’ıa, 2013)
